Description
My first attempts with Photoshop. Digital Painting Tutorial with Nemanja Sekulic (YouTube).
This was such a great experience! If anyone's thinking of trying digital painting, do it! I've wanted to for years, but admittedly, didn't understand it much. When I'd see incredible art created digitally, I often wondered about the process... were all the elements made 'from scratch' or did the artist use photos & manipulate them... is it harder or easier than traditional forms of art... etc. I learned so much in this tutorial! Challenging at times, but so much fun! I have a new respect for digital. Like any form of art, it's not 'easier' or 'harder'... it's a completely different medium & so exciting to work with. I'm sure one day in the near future, I'll look back on my first attempts & laugh, but for now, I'm having a blast. :-D

As I am sitting here and admiring your first digital creation...thinking...could I do it?? I absolutely love your creation...filled with magic and drama...shados and light placed perefctly...what a winner!! I am sure the process was not easy..as you expressed in your description...wonderful and creative project, Danielle :) :) clapping hands! f.l.
Danielle R T Haney replied:
Aw Jolanta~ many thanks!! This is such a tricky process to explain- in a way, you start from scratch.. but in a way you don't. You use someone else's photo(s).. but by the time you've manipulated it so much- it feels like your own because it takes so much work! (At least, it did for me.) I wondered, as I finished, if trying to explain it would sound like I cheated.. but this probably took longer than one of my pencil portraits.. & was definitely just as challenging! :-D A fun journey I recommend trying!

Oh wow, this is absolutely gorgeous! Keep up the digital painting, you are obviously amazing at it!!
Danielle R T Haney replied:
Thanks Chance!! :-) Although a photo-manipulation/matte painting like this is not entirely from scratch, it took just as long, if not longer, than some of my colored pencil portraits. I learned so much! Challenging, but loads of fun too. :-)
